Lake Cunningham firefighter dies in motorcycle crash

A firefighter from the Lake Cunningham Fire Department was killed Monday morning in a motorcycle crash in Greenville.

Adam Cory Shaver, 28, from Taylors, died from multiple trauma, according to Greenville County Coroner Park Evans.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Halton Road and Heywood Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Shaver was driving a 2012 Honda motorcycle south on Heywood Road when a GMC truck, pulling out of a private driveway onto the road, hit the motorcycle, according the SCHP report.

Shaver was wearing a helmet, according to Evans. He suffered multi-body trauma and died at the scene, according to Evans. The driver, 26, of the truck was charged with failure to yield, according to the SCHP report.

Shaver was a part-time firefighter. He is an Eastside graduate.

The Lake Cunningham FD released a statement: “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken over the loss of one of our brothers.  Adam loved to help others and to serve his community. He was extremely dedicated and will be greatly missed.  Please join us as we continue to offer prayers and support for Firefighter Shaver’s family.”
