Varsity cheerleaders from Greer High School volunteered at the Soup Kitchen Monday.
Joining Martha O’Neal, Operations Manager for Daily Bread Ministries, were cheerleaders Kinlie Worthen, Carly Majors, Imani Lemon, Maggie Black, Sara Ashleigh Ponder, Rebecca Wilds and Kaetlyn Wade.
The 2013 All-Region II-AAA football team selections have been announced. Below are the schools and players.
Region Champion Greer placed nine players on the team, with Blue Ridge and Greenville, having seven players each.
Leland Burch held his third book signing Monday and came away with as many new stories as the ones he has published in “Greer SC The Center of the Universe”.
At each signing Burch and purchasers of his book reflect on Greer in the past and during the Burch family's successful tenure as owners of the local newspaper until its sale to out of town buyers in 2008.
The North beat the South Saturday, 38-21, at the 65th annual North-South All-Star game in Myrtle Beach.
The North scored 21 consecutive points in the final seven minutes. The North leads the series, 37-36-2.
The Greer boys handed rival Greenville its first loss of the season, 55-50, Friday night at Greer High School. Greer is 4-3 overall and Greenville fell to 7-1.
Tymeco Gregory, a standout at Wofford College and Greer High School, will be among a group of players participating in the College All-Star Bowl game at Furman on Feb. 14.
The game features South Carolina football players who have completed their senior year of eligibility with an emphasis on those entering the NFL draft. The game will be aired on the CBS Sports Network with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
Kathy Young, the mother of Greer High School Head Football Coach Will Young, died on Nov. 30, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
A memorial service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Clemson First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Family Life Center.
