Born and raised in Greer, daughter of the late Lalon and Florine Horton. Evelene was blessed with a large and loving family. Evelene raised two children and five grandchildren with patience, kindness, and humility.

Thomas and Wilma King

June 5, 2019 - Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Monroe King passed away on June 5 and June 10, 2019, respectfully.

They had been married for sixty two years.

Tom was a graduate of East Tennessee State University where he majored in Physical Education. He was a member of the ETSU football team where he excelled as an offensive guard and defensive tackle.

He had been a member of Army ROTC even in high school. He enlisted in the United States Army after college and he received the rank of Major.

Over the years he taught and coached as well as worked in sales and as a Terminal Manager for Mason and Dixon Trucking, Smith Transfer, Colonial Freight and Overnight Transportation.

He loved raising Angus cattle, judging horse shows and spending time with his family.

Wilma attended East Tennessee State University where she studied Secretarial Science.

For many years she was a secretary and bookkeeper for The School District of Greenville County.

Much of her time was spent working at Simpsonville Elementary and Bryson Middle School.

She also worked at The Biltmore House as a greeter, a job that suited her vivacious personality.

She loved her dogs, going out to eat, fashion, shopping and the beach. She made many of her best friends while living in Poinsettia in Simpsonville, SC. She leaves behind her beloved Korgi Boscoe.

She was born in Landrum, SC on January 2, 1933 to Melvin and Cora Brady.

She married Glenn Harvey Whitmire in 1953 who preceded her in death in 2000.

Betty lived a full life as a beloved wife, wonderful mother, and homemaker, all while working as a Sales Manager at Goodyear Tire for 29 years.

She was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and member of First Baptist Lyman.

She dedicated her life to the Lord and serving others.
