Riverside High School's Representative Committee is sponsoring 11 children from the Salvation Army's angel tree program.
Students took the wish list from 11 children and divided it among their Home Room classes.
Lauren Morelli, a sixth-grade student at Riverside Middle School, recently competed in the Carolina Panthers' NFL Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) Team Championship competition in Charlotte. She earned the honor by winning the Greenville County PPK in the 10-11 girls division and then swept through the sectionals at Pickens.
Greenville City Council presented a plaque to Morelli at a meeting to honor her accomplishments and wish her well.
Eastside and Riverside high school alumni are playing a charity basketball game on Dec. 22 at 4 p.m. at Eastside High School to benefit Jada Atkins, who is battling cancer. Jada has been diagnosed with a Wilms (kidney) tumor.
Former NFL players Andre Goodman (Denver Broncos) and Tremayne Stephens (San Diego Chargers) have committed to play. Goodman played at Eastside and Stephens at Riverside. Steven Bright (Riverside), Vanderbilt quarterback, will also be at the game.
The Foothills Philharmonic will perform "Christmas Celebration", a mix of holiday classics, Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Riverside High School. The concert is free.
Kory Vrieze, Artistic Director of the orchestra, will lead the free concert.
