A native of Taylors, son of the late Roy O. Coker, Sr. and Grace Jones Coker, he was a 1954 graduate of Clemson University where he was a star baseball player and inducted into the Hall of Fame.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired supervisor for REWU, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greer.

Ray Sanford Sims, 89, passed away on July 11 at 11:05 a.m. at his home of 61 years.
Ray was a devoted Dad, Daddy, Papa Ray, Pa, Pop, and Uncle Ray.
Having lived most of his life in Greer, Ray was born in Woodruff, S.C.
He loved God, his family, and music including old time, country, and bluegrass.
Ray knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and served in His church for many years. As a teenager, he enlisted in the Army and served his country honorably in the Korean War and, later, his community as a police officer. He also worked many years as a truck driver. Ray was an active member of Peoples Baptist Church and the Bailey Masonic Lodge #146.
Ray will be greeted in heaven by his wife, Clois Miller Sims, his father, Sanford Sims, and mother, Mattie Nix Sims, brothers Earl, Hallie, and ST, and sister Catherine Sims Brady.

Quang Huu Tran, 79, died July 8, 2022.
A native of Gia Lam, Vietnam and was a son of the late Tran Huu Ban and Nguyen Thi Hien.
Mr. Tran was an overseas student in 1963 to 1965 in Florida; later in February of 1969, he was an overseas student for one and one-half years in Japan. He received a Bachelors Degree in Vietnamese Literature.
After his education, he served as a Captain Pilot of Division 4 in Can Tho, South Vietnam, where he served for six years for South Vietnam before his capture as a prisoner of war.
He was a prisoner of war for nine years before his release.
He was a retired employee of Southwark Metal Manufacturing Company and of the Christian faith.
