March 29, 2023 - LaVerne Cothran Lister, 96, wife of the late John Frederick Lister, passed away March 29, 2023.

A native of Startex, S.C., daughter of the late Herb and Callie Owens Cothran, she was a retired executive assistant in the office of the president of the University of South Carolina, a former member of First Baptist Columbia for many years and a present member of First Baptist North Spartanburg.

Elizaberh Eleanor Moser Tucker

Location: Greer, SC
March 24, 2023 - Elizabeth ?Beth? Eleanor Moser Tucker, 80, of Greer passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 24, 2023, from complications following a 25-
year battle with Parkinson?s Disease.

Born in Cliffside, N.C,, she was the daughter of the late Max I. Moser, Jr., and Louise Packard Moser.

She was in one of the first graduating classes at Chase High School in Forest City, N./C., and she also attended the Presbyterian Hospital Nursing School in Charlotte, N.C.

Beth was a member of Pelham Road Baptist Church and her greatest joy in life was being a caregiver. She lovingly cared for her family and was also passionate about caring for children, especially infants. Affectionately known as "Miss Beth?", she provided infant care for many years at several area churches including Lee Road United Methodist Church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Pelham Road Baptist Church.

Later in life, she received her nursing assistant certification and, at one point, worked as a CNA at NHC Healthcare-Greenville, where she spent the last few years of her life as a resident.

John JM Mayfield Reynolds

March 18, 2023 - John "JM" Mayfield Reynolds, 82, passed away at his home on March 18, 2023.

Born in Spartanburg on September 9, 1940, to the late Ralph G. Reynolds and Thelma Campbell Reynolds Cook, he was a retired electrician for National Mechanical. He was an electrician by trade, but his real passion was playing baseball in his younger years.

When he wasn't attending his grandchildren's sporting, musical, and school events, he loved being at home working in his yard and riding his John Deere Tractor. JM enjoyed working on projects around the house as well as at his children's homes. We say "thank you" dad for always being there to help. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jessica Rose Coxie Ball

March 11, 2023 - Jessica Rose Coxie Ball, 34, entered into Heaven's gates and gained her wings on March 11, 2023.

A native of Greer, daughter of Julia Grace Kirby Russo of Spartanburg and Toby "Bo" Andrew Bishop (Melinda) of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, she was the Director of Operations for Sonfast Corporation and a member of Springwell Church.

Jessica was always outgoing and never met a stranger who didn't instantly love her. Jessica was so giving of herself to her family and friends and was always one step ahead of everyone. She treated everyone she encountered with kindness and generosity.

James Orval Murray

March 13, 2023 - James Orval Murray, 93, of Greer, S.C., husband for 54 years of the late LaMar Wells Murray, died peacefully at home on March 13, 2023.

He was a native of Kannapolis, N.C., son of the late R. Perry and Gertrude Murray. It was evident early in Jim's life that music would be his calling. He completed two years of music study at Mars Hill College, and then received his Bachelor of Music degree from Baylor University.

While completing his senior year at Baylor, he met LaMar Wells, who was the Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in Franklin, N.C., followed by music ministry at Trinity Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C.

Jim served in the United States Army for two years, and was part of the Army Band, assigned to the base in Orleans, France.

Following completion of his military service, he was Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Ga., and then at Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Richmond, Va.

He responded to the call to become Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Greer S.C., where he served for 30 years, and in 1993 was named Minister of Music Emeritus. He later served interim positions at several nearby churches before a long-term interim at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church.

During his years of church ministry, Jim developed active children, youth, and adult choirs, along with handbell and instrumental groups. He was a member of the South Carolina Singing Churchmen.

At age 50, Jim fulfilled a long-time dream of flying airplanes when he obtained his private pilot's license. After retirement from Greer First Baptist, he began building his own 2-seater aircraft, which he enjoyed flying for many years. Jim also enjoyed being an amateur radio operator.

Jim was known for his booming laugh and broad smile, and is remembered and respected by many of the people, young and old, whose lives he positively touched during his many years of church music ministry.

Larry Jackson

March 13, 2023 - Larry Jackson, 76, founder and former CEO of Jackson, a leading national brand marketing and motorsports marketing agency headquartered in Greenville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 13, 2023.

A 55-year veteran of the communication industry, Larry built a powerhouse agency that has provided marketing strategy and services to globally recognized brands including Ford, BMW, Michelin, BFGoodrich Tires and even the Harlem Globetrotters. In 2010, Larry assumed the role of Chairman of Jackson, with his son Darrell succeeding as CEO.

"Dad was my mentor as a father and as a marketer," said Darrell Jackson, President and CEO of Jackson. "For years, I saw him passionately lead brands beyond their potential while also investing in our associates every day. Today, our "north star" is defined by the way Dad lived his life both professionally andm personally ? uncommonly creative, uncommonly collaborative and always living out the golden rule."

The roots of Jackson go back to 1980 in Detroit. It was then that Larry and business partner Sam Dawson opened Jackson-Dawson Communications, an agency created to help automotive brands with product launches and dealer training. They soon added a Los Angeles office, and in 1987 Larry moved south to open an office in Greenville.

Eventually, Larry divested of his interest in Jackson-Dawson Communications, rebranded the agency to Jackson, expanded the company to include Jackson Motorsports Group and opened a West Coast office in San Diego. Today, Jackson is 140 uncommonly collaborative, passionate people helping to grow brands with a complete offering of fully integrated brand and motorsports marketing services.

Larry began his marketing career serving as a public information officer in the U.S. Army. His responsibilities included directing training films and videos and mserving as editor of the post newspaper. He was awarded the Army's Commendation Medal for his services and was awarded an honorable discharge from the Army.

From there he joined the Ford Motor Company, where he served as supervisor/marketing services in Ford's Public Relations Department at World Headquarters. His responsibilities included overseeing Ford's extensive driver education program, educational film library, sales training and meeting/presentation development for Ford senior management, as well as coordinating public relations for Ford's motorsports operations. He then served as vice president and general manager of Wilding Division of Bell & Howell, a major U.S. communications company, and capped his corporate career as senior vice president, Ford Account Group.

Larry held a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree in Film and Video Production from Bob Jones University. He was named Alumnus of the Year in 2000. Jackson served on the Board of Trustees of Bob Jones University from 1982?2016 and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 2013?2016.

He has also served on numerous academic and professional advisory boards, including the Headquarters Recruiting Committee of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Greenville Technical College's foundation board and on the Greenville County Economic Development Board. Additionally, he served on the boards of the Gospel Fellowship Association, The Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center, CMI Ministries and L.E.A.D Ministries.
