Lowes Foods has announced the location of its second greater Greer market store.
The grocery store will be located at 2702 Pelham Road, across from QuikTrip and at the southwest quadrant of Pelham and Boiling Springs Roads.
It’s trick-or-treat on Trade Street and its connecting downtown streets Tuesday.
The annual candy fest, which appears to be doubling each year, officially begins at 5 – 8 p.m.
The second Food Truck Rollout was held at Greer City Park Thursday with a sparse crowd attending.
"We had a little more the first time than we do tonight," said a volunteer. "But that was on a Friday night and we think maybe there was too much going on with Friday night football."
A Travelers Rest brewery won a silver medal in the Bock beer category at the Great American Beer Festival held in Denver earlier this month.
Numbskull, brewed at the Swamp Rabbit Brewery & Taproom, won the silver medal from among 36 entries in the bock category.
The food trucks are rolling into City Park Thursday for a return engagement by popular demand.
“We are reaching out to that group of people, young professionals, to provide a more adult event at City Park and if it can flourish,” City Events Supervisor Ashlyn Stone said.
Fatz Cafe parent Cafe Enterprises Inc. has named Jim Mazany, former president of Joe’s Crab Shack, its next president and CEO.
Mazany is a 30-year industry veteran who has also held senior leadership roles at TGI Fridays and Applebee’s. He takes over at the Taylors-based casual dining chain for Chris Thomas, who stepped down to “pursue other opportunities.”
Jason Clark was in a pensive mood when he talked about the meaning of being selected the Restaurateur of the Year by the Upstate Hospitality Association for his BIN112 restaurant in Greer.
It’s the second time in three years Clark’s BIN112 was recognized, virtually unheard of with all the quality dining available in the Upstate. It’s part of the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (SCRLA) honoring the best in the state.
The 37th Annual Big Thursday benefiting Greer Community Ministries (GCM) is Nov. 3 at Fairview Baptist Church, 8 a.m.
The event is 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 1300 Locust Hill Road.
Upstate movie director KT Terry will be shooting a faith-based film called "Unconditional Surrender" throughout the Upstate in 2017. The movie will tackle the PTSD struggle many veterans face upon returning home from combat.
"We lose 22 soldiers a day to suicide due to PTSD and you and I can be part of the solution." stated Terry. "Unconditional Surrender will focus on a soldier's return home to his family, and the battles he struggles with returning to a normal' life."
