Dr. Raymond Van Grubbs

December 19, 2020 - Dr. Raymond Van Grubbs, 74, husband of Jennifer Burgin Grubbs passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020.

Born in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Raymond Benjamin Grubbs and Swanee Pitts Grubbs. He was a graduate of Clemson University and the Medical University of South Carolina.

He was a general surgeon in Greer, S.C., and a member of the Fellow American College of Surgeons, where he served as teller for the past 40 years.

Preceding his death he worked as Medical director with National Health Care.

He served as the physician of the U.S. Olympic Kayaking Team and wrote the first E.M.S. handbook. He served his country well as a Captain of the U.S. Army.

Living life to the fullest, he was an instrument rated pilot, Captain of his own Boat "No Agenda", track doctor at Darlington Raceway for 30 years, a certified scuba diver, rode motorcycles on many cross country excursions, an epicurean of food and wine, and was passionate about jaguars and motor homes.

He read a book a day and loved relaxing with his animals by the ocean. He was a true adventurer and gentleman.

Having the biggest heart, he made an impact on many lives. He treasured his family and friends.

Gregg loved The Lord and loved and cherished his family. He loved his church and was dedicated to the community.

Alonzo Max DeBruhl

December 23, 2020 - Alonzo Max DeBruhl, 80, widower of Rebekah "Becky" Trantham DeBruhl, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.

Alonzo was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to everyone who knew him.

He shined a light wherever he went and always aimed to make people smile. Alonzo lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger.

Born in Union, he is the son of the late Jesse Hampton DeBruhl and Madora Anne Crawford DeBruhl.

Alonzo joins his wife Rebekah Trantham DeBruhl alongside his brothers Carson and Reece DeBruhl in heaven. Alonzo and Rebekah Trantham were married in July of 1960.

A native of Union, South Carolina, Alonzo attended Union High school. He graduated from Clemson College A&M in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Alonzo was a member of the band at Clemson, The Tiger Tones, and The Glee Club. He was also a member of the shag club, karaoke club, a founding member of The Taylors Tiger Tailgaters, and B Crew MOAD in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He was a God loving soul with a heart as big as the world. He served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant.

A retired owner of Primer Investment Company and Dzign & Mprintz, Alonzo was a Christian and a former member of Taylors First Baptist Church.

Alonzo's legacy will forever live on in the lives of those who survive him.

Malcolm Henry Fitts

A native of Greenville County, son of the late Henry Marion and Ruby Marcelle Farmer Fitts, he was a retired firefighter from Lake Cunningham Fire Department and was a member of Oneal Baptist Church.

Captain Fitts served the Lake Cunningham citizens from 1977 ? 2011.

He was most known for his unlit cigar he chewed on most of the day. He would only light the cigar when a truck needed repair.

Captain Fitts was the first full-time firefighter of the department. Malcolm volunteered with the department prior to his career start which began on November 5, 1967.

He served a total of 44 years with the department.
