When someone burglarizes your home, whether you’re in it or not, it’s personal.
“Somebody is coming into your castle. It takes crime to a whole another level,” said Sgt. Chad Richardson, Community Outreach supervisor for the Greer Police Department.
Burglaries are on the rise in Greer and Richardson said the GPD’s biggest weapon is catching the criminal in the act or with stolen property. “Usually you catch one and you solve many crimes,” Richardson said.
Tina Griffiths passionately declares, “I live, eat and breathe criminal justice.”
Angie Childers is just as committed, despite asking herself, “Do I have the right as a mother to put myself in harm’s way?”
It was a special day at the 4th of July Arlington-Davenport Neighborhood Kids' Parade this morning.
The honorary starter was Mrs. Elizabeth Bruce, 99 years old, celebrating her birthday today. And making his first parade was Leo Wesley Fisher, 3 months old. In between were infants, children, teens, parents and grandparents celebrating Independence Day.
The murmur at the finish line got louder as Jessie White raced under the red, white and blue ribbon to win the ages 6-9 group race at today’s Greer Memorial Hospital Ride and Run event at the Greer campus.
White finished the run and bike race ahead of all competitors and had the officials and parents buzzing because a girl defeated the boys. “A girl won,” an official said as other women and moms clapped.
