Griffin closes sale of office for Langston-Black

Jim Griffin of Langston-Black Real Estate, Inc. recently represented Christopher Brock, with the sale of his property located at 4318 East North Street in Greenville which consists of a 3,000 square foot office on .69 acre. 

The property was listed, sold and closed in less than 60-days.  This will be the new location for a local Audiology company.

Ovation Brands sets contemporary course for former Buffets, Inc.

CEO Anthony Wedo shows the Ovation Brands logo on his shirt signaling a new era for the Greer-headquartered restaurant chain.

With a resounding applause as a backdrop Ovations Brands was launched today that signaled an end to Buffets, Inc., ironically on the 30th anniversary of the former brand.

“It is about applause. We have six brands around the country and if we are not causing our guests to give a round of applause on each restaurant that they visit, then we are not doing our job,” CEO Anthony Wedo said. The announcement and unveiling of the new corporate logo took place at the corporate headquarters on Lancaster Street behind Ryan’s.

CPW is tobacco free workplace; Port project nears end

CPW has installed the lights on GSP Logistics Parkway.

CPW properties and vehicles are tobacco-free. Greer Commission Board of Directors unanimously approved (3-0) the tobacco free workplace at Monday’s monthly meeting.

The utility company reported it’s finalizing work at the Inland Port in Greer with electrical underground cables and installation of light poles on GSP Logistics Parkway, the road entering the port from J. Verne Smith/Hwy. 80. Additional cables have been set anticipating the port’s pending expansion.

Historic day! Inland Port makes Greer intermodal global player

This is the first cargo container, previously brought into the Inland Port at Greer via truck, to be loaded on a railcar headed to the Port of Charleston for export.

At 10:59 a.m. the first cargo container was lifted from the South Carolina Inland Port at Greer onto a Norfolk Southern railcar for its journey to the Port of Charleston, the nation's fourth busiest container port.

Caliber Ridge adds 150,000 SF spec building, AL Solutions first tenant

A new 156,000 square foot Class A industrial building in Caliber Ridge Industrial Park is underway. It becomes available in January 2014.

A year ago Greer Development Corporation President Reno Deaton stood before City Council to deliver his annual report. At the end, Deaton told Council that Greer was void of 150,000 square foot speculative buildings to entice new industry.

Tuesday the GDC announced construction of a new 156,000 square foot Class A industrial building in Caliber Ridge Industrial Park by Liberty Property Trust is underway. Caliber Ridge is located off I-85 at Hwy. 101, across from the BMW Manufacturing Co.

Buddhist temple, QuikTrip zoning approved by commissioners
OCT 22, 2013

A proposal for a Buddhist temple and QuikTrip convenience store received unanimous approval (7-0) for their zoning requests Monday at the Greer City Planning Commission meeting.

Two other properties requesting rezoning were tabled until representatives appeared before the committee. The Planning Commission has become aggressive requesting representatives to appear to support their request or answer questions from commissioners. City Council, which meets tonight, does not mandate petitioners to appear in public session.

More than 400 automobiles will be presented at the EURO Auto Festival Friday and Saturday at the BMW Zentrum. Saturday's vehicle showcase is free.

Ferrari, with more than 40 representatives registered, is the featured marque and, for the first time of the event, all classes will be grouped in year of manufacture order. The event annually draws upwards of 10,000 spectators. Vintage, classic and antique European vehicles will be exhibited.

City of Greer sets a new record for gross retail sales

The Greer Development Corporation (GDC) announced the City of Greer recorded a record $740.3 million in Gross Retail Sales for fiscal year 2013. That represents more than an 8 percent increase compared to fiscal year 2012 and a 38 percent increase compared to the pre-recession high in 2008.

Greer sales in Greenville County were $536.6 million and in Spartanburg County was $205.4 million. Greer recorded more gross retail sales in FY 2013 than 18 South Carolina counties, according to the GDC.

Davies comes to United Community Bank with more than 28 years of experience in the mortgage banking industry.
