Lowes Foods is opening a staffing center for its stores, first coming to Greer, and then entering the Simpsonville and Greenville markets.

The staffing center, at 1659 Woodruff Road in Greenville, is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. No appointments are necessary and walk-ins are welcome.

Greer Bancshares Incorporated (GRBS) the parent company of Greer State Bank, Friday reported net income attributable to common shareholders of $684,000 or $0.27 per diluted common share for the quarter ended June 30, compared to net income of $661,000 or $0.27 per diluted common share for the first quarter of 2016.

Year to date net income attributable to common shareholders through June 30 was $1.345 million or $0.54 per diluted common share, compared to net income of $1.515 million or $0.61 per diluted common share for the same period in 2015.

The Greenville Health System (GHS) Board of Trustees voted unanimously Thursday to sell its 144-bed nursing home, The Cottages at Brushy Creek, to Orianna Health Systems.

The decision to sell The Cottages was the result of a plan to position GHS to respond to a healthcare environment with rapidly changing reimbursement and care delivery patterns driven primarily by changes in Medicare and Medicaid, according to GHS’ announcement.

The brakes have been put on GSP’s plan to acquire a driverless, technology-controlled personal rapid transit system (PRT).

Greenville-Spartanburg Airport commissioners agreed to pause on a decision for a more-than $24 million, battery powered, pod car system that would transport travelers from the economy parking lot to the terminal in 5-7 minutes, according to Peter Muller, PRT Consulting.

STEP has homes ready for first participants to go from homeless to become contributors to society

They are homes – fully furnished and decorated – awaiting the first occupants of the Greer Shelter to Empower People (STEP). “And they are opportunities of hope for families that are temporarily homeless and don’t want to be,” said Don Louis, STEP director.

Lowes Grocery store begins hiring next week for the Greer store located at Riverside Commons, across from Riverside High School.
 

Lowes Foods is hiring more than 100 people for its first grocery store in the Upstate at Riverside Commons.

The new concept store, to be built at the corner of Hammett Bridge Road and Suber Road, will be 42,500 square feet. Lowes is building other stores in the Upstate in an aggressive marketing campaign.
