Hollywild closed for 2017 season, possibly won't reopen

Hollywild Animal Park will not be opening for the 2017 season and it's likely the park will not re-open to the public, according to the park’s board of directors.

A lack of funding is the reason the board cited. Volunteers will assist the members of the Meeks family, co-founders of the park, to care for the animals.

Mobile site at Home Depot to serve Allstate, State Farm customers with vehicle hail damage

A temporary mobile drive-in has been set up in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Wade Hampton Boulevard by Allstate and State Farm to serve drivers whose vehicles were damaged during last Tuesday’s hail storm.

Ron Acker, an Allstate insurance agent in Greer, epitomizes most of the upstate agents servicing their clients who obtained vehicle and damage to their homes in last week's hair storm.
 
 

Ron Acker knew what awaited him last Wednesday morning following a severe hailstorm that virtually pockmarked vehicles with dozens of dings and dented roofs of businesses and homes.

Acker, an Allstate Insurance agent in Greer, didn’t expect to have such a busy Tuesday night. “People are very industrious,” Acker said. “The first wave of calls came in Tuesday evening on my cell phone. The phone calls haven’t stopped.”

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, who is opening a restaurant at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, is in a battle in federal court in Chicago, to preserve the right to use “the kitchen” in restaurant names.

The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck is under construction at GSP and on target to open in the second quarter, according to Scott Carr, the airport’s VP for Commercial Business and Properties.
