Blue Ridge High School's baseball team beat Daniel, 3-2, Saturday to remain alive in the Class AAAA playoffs. The past three games the Blue Ridge pitchers have only allowed six hits.
Blue Ridge travels to North Augusta twice Monday and must win both games to remain in the playoffs.
Daily boat permits for Greer residents on Lake Robinson just got a lot cheaper.
Greer Commission of Public Works commissioners unanimously approved a recommendation from CPW staff to reduce daily residential boat permit fees to $5, effective immediately. That’s a 75 percent decrease from the $20 fee set in August 2013.

House members debated then turned back a proposal to eventually require seat belts on all new school busses in SC. There was concern about the cost ($6,500 per bus) and the potential new requirements for drivers to be responsible for each student during an accident. The bill was referred back to committee.
A blood drive in memory of fallen Spartanburg police officer Jason Harris is scheduled at Greer CPW today at 12:30-5:30 p.m.
Harris served the city of Spartanburg for 12 years. He died following an on-duty motorcycle crash on April 13. He is survived by a wife and three children.

Greer CPW Commissioners approved $380,535 to Dillard Excavating Co. Inc. for the first phase of the estimated $4 – $4.5 million project to replace the central business district’s aging infrastructure and incorporate a new streetscape appearance. Some of the downtown infrastructure is more than 100-years old, city officials said.
An apparent head-on collision between a Greenville County school bus and a pick-up truck sent four Greer students and the driver of the truck to Pelham Medical Center this morning, according to police and Greenville County Schools officials.
Greer police reported no children were seriously injured and Beth Brotherton, spokesman for Greenville County Schools, said the injuries to the students were non life-threatening. "They were so minor one had a cut lip and the others had bumps and bruises," Brotherton said.

After being diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer, Dr. Thomas McConnell drew from a remembered conversation with a research nurse and from his own dreams to write “I Have Seen My Death”, which was awarded first place for non-fiction at the 2017 Porter Fleming Literary Competition Sunday at the Morris Museum of Art.
