Dance is making its way to special needs children, adults

Dance is making its way to children and adults with special needs in the community.

Carolina Dance Collaborative is a mobile dance outreach program that was founded in the spring.  CDC is an all-inclusive dance program that offers classes for those with disabilities and an Adaptive Christmas Flash Mob.

“Part of Carolina Dance Collaborative foundational beliefs is that all people have the ability to dance and should have access to dance,” Kelsey Crum, co-founder, said in an email interview.

Tyler Patskoski is a volunteer parents will thank later for his impact on their children.

The Eastside Family YMCA held its volunteer appreciation dinner Tuesday selecting the 2015 members who have gone above and beyond the scope of service to the organization and community.

Blue Ridge Water lifts boiling advisory, CPW hours away

Blue Ridge Rural Water Company workers try to get a retaining wall up, anticipating a heavy rain event Wednesday, and getting dirt back into a huge hole that was the result of a huge water main break at the Lake Cunningham water treatment facility.
 

The Blue Ridge Rural Water Company has canceled its notice of the boil water advisory for all of its customers effective 6 p.m. this evening.

Greer Commission of Public Works is anticipating making an announcement around 7:45 p.m., according to Chuck Reynolds, Finance Manager and overseer of the repairs and water testing, mandated by DHEC.

$65 million expansion for Gibbs Cancer Center in Greer

A $65 million investment into a new cancer center in Greer was announced Tuesday by the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
 

A $65 million investment into a new cancer center in Greer was announced Tuesday by the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Meanwhile, a $15 million capital campaign through the Spartanburg Regional Foundation is underway with $9.5 million already raised.

The expansion was reported in January at the Pelham Medical Center when SRHS officials told GreerToday.com the multi-story world-class Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute and the medical center campus would be connected with a glass bridge over Westmoreland Road.

Catwalk for the Cure donates $4,200 to Gibbs Center

Presenting the Catwalk Walk for a Cure check to the Gibbs Cancer Center are, left to right, Danielle McLanders, Kyle Mensing  (Greer Station Association), Marisa Cecil  (Gibbs Cancer Center), Chantel Washington  (Gibbs Cancer Center), Karen Jackman  (volunteer, works at Talloni), Mary Prestifilippo  (Southern Sisters Boutique) and Kristi Mabrey (Talloni).

Catwalk Walk for a Cure raised $4,210 at a fashion show featuring clothing from downtown Greer’s fashion stores.

The proceeds benefit Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute. The funds will be used by the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health’s Mammography assistance program, which allows women, who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford screenings, to receive mammograms.
