Ryan’s is inviting kids to become superheroes with their new online partner, Herotopia in its February, Thursday Family Night promotion. Herotopia is an online superhero game that is fun and educational for kids ages 6-12 years old. The promotion begins Feb. 6.
Kids visiting Ryan’s on Thursday will get a new set of collectable cards, featuring the Smighties, Herotopia’s small, but mightiest heroes. The card packs will include special codes that may be redeemed for virtual prizes in the online game. Free Herotopia-inspired Valentine’s Day greeting cards may be downloaded on the company’s website.

Due to predicted severe winter weather, South Carolina Ports Authority facilities in Charleston are closed until Tuesday at noon. The Greer Inland Port will remain open Tuesday, according to a port authority official.
An advisory by the SCPA on Monday evening reported all facilities would be closed Today. Michael Hoffman, Terminal Manager for the Greer Inland Port, said it will be business as usual Tuesday.

Greer Commission of Public Works (CPW) is seeking an agreement with Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) to partner in providing sewer services to a southern part of Greer in Spartanburg County.
CPW commissioners held a special meeting Friday to adopt a resolution allowing General Manager Randy Olson to negotiate and implement an agreement with ReWa.

Commissioners, swayed by the concerns of residents speaking against the annexation at Snow and Burns roads approved the measure 4-3, but reduced the zoning request to R-15 single family that limits new houses to 175. The requested R-12 zoning would have allowed 217 homes.

Cabela’s (NYSE: CAB) is sifting through its pool of applicants and continues on course to open its first South Carolina store in Greenville at Magnolia Park in the spring. Its location is at the junction of I-85 and I-385 on Woodruff Road.
“We are hiring 235 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees for the opening,” said Nathan Borowski, Cabela’s spokesman. “We are going through the applications now.” Interviews were conducted in late December. Jack Petty is the store’s general manager.
