WYNIT Distribution LLC announced a reorganization Friday that will close its Wholesale Distribution Division based in downtown Greenville. The closing of the Greenville division affects 140 people.
The announcement reported a number of unexpected financial issues combined with a disappointing holiday selling season.
Katie Howell has been hired as director of marketing and research at the Greer Development Center. It is a newly created position at GDC.
Howell served as senior coordinator of marketing and events for JAXUSA Partnership, the economic development arm of the Jacksonville, Florida Chamber of Commerce, serving the seven county region of Northeast Florida.

Former Columbia Blue Marlin Chef Brian Dukes has been named the Director of Culinary for Fatz Southern Kitchen.
Dukes will be based in the chain’s Taylors headquarters and direct culinary operations in its 45 locations across the Southeast. Dukes, from Knoxville, Tenn., graduated Johnson and Wales University and holds strong family ties to South Carolina. His career has taken him to the San Juan Islands, Virginia, the Pacific Northwest and New York City, where he worked in the kitchen of Alain Ducasse.
The Greer manufactured X5 was a bright spot in July as BMW reported its brand sales decreased 14.8 percent.
The X5 increased 8.8 percent to 2,986 vehicles.
The Teavana retail store at Haywood Mall will be closing.
Starbucks announced it will shutter all 379 Teavana retail stores over the coming year, with most being closed by spring 2018.
