• Hotel, parking garage coming to city
The timing and the City of Greer’s financial growth led to the pursuit of a hotel-parking garage complex and possibly more commercial/retail business.
Details for a 100-plus room city hotel, related retail properties and approximately a 300-vehicle parking garage, will be presented at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
City Administrator Ed Driggers will present the economic development project, code-named “Kaboom”, for a first reading on council’s agenda. Council meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.
Throughout October Spinx convenience stores will partner with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life to help fight back and save more lives from cancer.
Customers can purchase a foot con with a donation and then write a loved one’s name on it to honor or remember their battle with cancer. The feet will then be put on display in the stores’ windows.
Sourdough & Co., a sandwich shop, is making the Upstate its first venture outside of its home-based California.

Greer-produced BMW X vehicles showed a 30 percent decline in August sales compared to August 2016, according to BMW monthly reports. Year to date Greer models show a 4.6 percent increase through August 2016 compared to the same month this year.
Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 7.7 percent in August for a total of 23,553 compared to 25,531 vehicles sold in August 2016. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 5 percent in the U.S. on sales of 194,604 vehicles compared to 204,744 sold in the first eight months of 2016.
