A Manufacturing Job and Training Fair is scheduled Tuesday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McAlister Square, 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive.
Employers will be available to meet with candidates and applications will be available to apply at the job fair.

April Riddle Staggs has joined Greer State Bank as Vice President and Commercial Lender. Staggs brings more than 10 years of business development and customer relationship experience to this position.

A city official confirmed the exchange of property to Kohl’s and Marty Navarro, the Greenville developer of the Piedmont Marketplace. Navarro also confirmed reports of the department store’s opening in Greer for next year.
Bill Tyler was honored as the Greer Lions Club Citizen of the Year and Ken Holliday the Lion of the Year at the club’s annual awards dinner.
Tyler is operator of Chick-fil-A in Greer and Holliday is the Human Resource Manager of Greer Commission of Public Works. Holliday is the treasurer of the Lions Club. Both said they were unaware of being recipients of the award.

Plant tours at BMW Manufacturing Co. in Greer have been suspended for new model production and not expected to resume until summer of 2014, the company announced today.
BMW Manufacturing is undergoing a $900 million expansion that will allow the production of 350,000 units at its more than 4-million-square-foot facility. The X4, introduced this week at the Shanghai Auto Show as a concept car, has been designated as Greer’s next production model.
Greer City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday to discuss the permanent suspension of Upstate Wrecker Service from the city’s wrecker rotation. The wrecker service was suspended from the city’s rotation on April 1 and the suspension expired on April 15.

The Southern Connector will shut down for 72 hours next week to allow a television crew on site to film scenes for an upcoming Cinemax production.
The 16-mile toll road that runs across the southern portion of Greenville County between Interstate 85 and 385 will close to normal traffic on Sunday, April 21 at 10 p.m. and reopen Wednesday, April 24 at 10 p.m., said Peter Femia, executive director of the Southern Connector.

A $13.4 million, 414,534 square foot BMW Manufacturing Co. warehouse is being constructed at the Greer Inland Port. The size is the equivalent to four Wal-Mart SuperStores.
The warehouse will be used for the Greer-produced BMW vehicles to be prepared as kits for as many as three to a rail container for shipment overseas. The containers will be shipped to the Port of Charleston for export.

The first prospective buyer for the Allen Bennett Hospital campus has come and gone. Now, there’s a second candidate undergoing due diligence, according to City Administrator Ed Driggers.
“We have a letter of intent,” Driggers said. “They basically are seeing if ‘this property works for (them).’
