The website provides access to detailed data, property descriptions and photographs about bank-owned properties for sale.
The Greer Commission of Public Works told commissioners and attendees at today’s meeting it has earned two national awards.
Greer CPW earned the American Public Power Association’s Electric Utility Safety Award for safe operating practices in 2011. More than 275 utilities entered the contest and were divided into categories according to their number of worker hours.
Perry Williams has been appointed to the American Public Gas Association's (AGA) Public Gas Policy Council serving on the Government Relations Committee and the Legislative Subcommittee.
Williams is Greer Commissioner of Public Works. "I'm passionate about the future of natural gas in our everyday lives,” Williams said. “From the implementation of compressed natural gas vehicles to gas powered heat pumps that fuel our air conditioners."

Sam Danner has been promoted to Downtown Development Director for the Greer Development Corporation.
Danner will be responsible for all business retention and new business recruiting initiatives in Greer’s historic downtown. He will lead Tourism Development activities for the GDC and lend assistance to the Greer Station Association.
The Faust-Boyer Group of Raymond James, has hired Jamie Kingdom as a service assistant. Her responsibilities include client services, business development and event planning.
A native of Wyoming, Kingdom moved to the Upstate from Olympia, Wash., where she worked in the not-for-profit and health care industries, specializing in fundraising and event management. A martial arts enthusiast, Kingdom earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
The Ember restaurant family and friends will remember Ryan Storrie Saturday at the Upstate Heart Walk at Greer City Park.
Storrie, 29, died of a heart attack in January, one month after he realized his dream of opening his first restaurant, with Tim Kearns, his close friend and business partner. Storrie and Tim Kearns, his best friend, partnered in opening the restaurant.

Michelin North America will again expand its operations in South Carolina, it was announced today by Michelin North America's Chairman and President Pete Selleck.
Michelin, the largest manufacturing employer in the state, is breaking ground next week on a new Earthmover tire manufacturing plant in Anderson County. The company is also expanding its existing Earthmover tire facility in Lexington.
Acme General Store has changed its hours and eliminated its breakfast offerings.
Store hours, effective immediately, are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday noon – 6 p.m.
Michelin is the latest tire manufacturer or marketer to increase prices this year.
Michelin North America, headquartered in Greenville, announced today it is increasing prices up to six percent on its compact and agricultural tires sold in the U.S and Canada.
Brett Garrett’s seven-year wait to take over a Countybank Financial Service Center ended this morning at the Pelham Road office. “I was the first one here because that’s the way I wanted to begin my job here,” Garrett said. I was super excited this morning. I love and accept the challenge.”
Two-thirds of the 9-person staff are new hires. “We’re happy to open this new building with six new associates at this time in our economy,” Garrett said.
Children's Hospital of Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS) has been selected as the non-profit partner of the 2012 Southern Living Showcase Home by Dillard-Jones Builders. The Child Life Program at GHS Children’s Hospital, specifically, will benefit from the Showcase Home visitors.
Dillard-Jones Builders does not charge admission to tour its Southern Living Showcase Homes, rather donations are collected to benefit a local charity. “The generosity of our tour home visitors always is overwhelming,” said Dillard-Jones President Tom Dillard. “We are delighted this year to be able to assist Children’s Hospital by collecting much needed items for its Child Life program.”
The BMW X5 SAV, manufactured in Greer at the BMW Manufacturing Co. was the best performing vehicle in March sales, announced BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and Mini combined). X5 sales were up 41.3 percent to 2,841 vehicles.
That led March sales of 29,806 vehicles, an increase of 13 percent from the 26,382 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, the BMW Group achieved its best first quarter sales since the record year of 2007 retailing 75,729 vehicles, up 16.6 percent compared to 64,957 vehicles sold in the first three months of 2011.
