• increase electricity rates 7 percent.
Historic downtown Greer will get its century-old infrastructure updated and streets repaved and with it will come more landscaping and wayfinding signage. A byproduct may be additional parking.

Postal regulators on Tuesday approved a price hike of 3 cents for a first-class stamp making the cost of mailing a letter 49 cents.

The International House of Pancakes (IHOP) is tentatively scheduled to open its Greer store in mid-March at Suber Commons at the corner of Wade Hampton Blvd. and Suber Road.
A spokesperson told GreerToday.com that was the best guess based on typically sized units built without regard to weather and other construction influences. The timeline for jobs interviews was not available.
Doctors Express will hold a grand opening and open house Saturday and Sunday at 1494 W. Wade Hampton Blvd.

Michelin North America, Inc. announced a safety recall of approximately 1.3 million of its Michelin LTX M/S commercial light truck tires sold primarily in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. About 1.2 million of these tires were sold in the U.S. The tires are typically found on such vehicles as commercial light trucks, full-sized heavy duty vans, small RVs and some large pickup trucks.
No deaths or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled tires.
Two city-owned properties are getting roof repairs for $39,650 combined.
The Operations Center on Pennsylvania Avenue is having its roof recoated after experiencing several leaks. Six picnic shelters and two restroom buildings at Kids Planet Playground will get new roofs.
Jimmy Rogers, founder of Fatz Café, Copper River Grill and J Jr.’s restaurant chains died of liver cancer at his home Wednesday. Rogers was 66.

Michelin celebrated the opening of its Anderson County manufacturing facility Thursday.
The project completion is the fastest greenfield construction in Michelin's history, 17 months, and enables the company to begin production of commercially available tires in January for sale in mid-2014.
