Jack Boch is beginning to see the fruits, or in this case the vegetables, of his labor sprouting at the Greer Memorial Hospital Community Garden.

Two weeks ago Boch meticulously planted, seed by seed, beans spaced by his measurements. The bamboo-rimmed garden is Boch’s signature construction.

In the past several years, kitchen activity has increased as families bypass the drive-through to cook at home more often.

According to a recent survey from the maker of a  popular nonstick coating for cookware, more than two-thirds of home cooks choose nonstick pots and pans because they help families cook convenient and healthy meals that are easy to clean up. "You don't need a lot of equipment to cook a simple and healthy meal at home. Kids Fest at Bi-Lo store features NASCAR show cars, games, fun

Walter's Pals will make an appearance at the free Kids Fest at the Bi-Lo store at 1365 W. Wade Hampton Blvd. Saturday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Bi-Lo grocery store at 1365 W. Wade Hampton Blvd. is hosting a Kids Fest Saturday and is assured of temperatures at least 25 degrees warmer than last week’s cold, windy and wet Saturday that drenched Family Fest. The event is free and is scheduled 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Saturday forecast is for mostly cloudy skies with mild temperatures.
