David Britt has been appointed to Vice President and General Manager of the South Carolina Tindall Corporation.
Britt will be working with the Spartanburg-based team to continue to drive this operation. “We are very pleased to be able to move David into this role,” said Greg Force, Tindall’s President and COO. “He has a proven track record of success at Tindall, which we are certain will continue with these additional responsibilities.”
AAA Carolinas projects that 2.1 million Carolinians will journey 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving, with more than 7000,000 South Carolinians and 1.4 million North Carolinians traveling. This represents 3.3 percent over 2016. The Thanksgiving holiday travel period is defined as Wednesday, Nov. 22, to Sunday, Nov. 26.
Fluor Corporation announced that a Fluor-led joint venture was selected by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) as the design-build team for the estimated $2 billion Green Line Light Rail Extension in Boston.

The South Carolina Municipal Finance Officers, Clerks and Treasurers Associated presented the 2017 MFOCTA Professional Achievement Award to David Seifert, Chief Financial Officer of the city of Greer. The award recognizes a Finance Officer, Clerk or Treasurer for his or her exceptional career and contributions to the profession.
Seifert has been serving in financial positions with the city of Greer since 1997 and holds CPA, CGMA and MBL Certifications. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Municipal Finance Officers, Clerks, and Treasurers Association and is active in the Business License Officers Association, Municipal Technology Association of South Carolina, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Government Finance Officers Association.
Fluor Corporation confirmed Thursday that the company, working under its contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), has completed a high priority 38kv power line near San Juan.
This will allow the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) to re-energize lines that serve an area in Carolina that includes residential neighborhoods, a hospital and a branch campus of the University of Puerto Rico.

The 14th Annual Syl Syl Christmas Toy Drive will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, 2-4 p.m. at the Clock Restaurant at 603 W. Poinsett Drive.
The toy drive is in honor of Sylvia Holtzclaw, created by family and friends, after she was inside the Blue Ridge Savings Bank in 2003. A USC Upstate professor and his wife were also killed in the unsolved case.

Katie Witherspoon has been promoted to Vice President of Operations for the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce. Witherspoon has been with the Chamber for four years as Director of Communications and Events.

The Greer-produced BMW X5 was one of the positive October sales gains for BMW brand vehicles. The X5 increased 9.5 percent to 4,254 vehicles.
Overall the models – X3, X4, X5, X6 – produced in Greer showed a collective 22.5 percent decrease or 6,639 vehicles sold this year compared to 8,564 vehicles sold in 2016. Year-to-date overall sales are down -0.5 percent or 80,869 sold compared to 81,285 sold in 2016.

The GSP Airport District announced Eastside Transportation Services as the new on-demand ground transportation services provider at GSP International Airport.
The Airport District solicited proposals for these services when the previous contract held by Atchison Transportation Services was set to expire. The final three bid proposals were not accompanied by GSP’s announcement today.
