Joe grew up at Greer Mill, where he also worked for 20 years; was a member of Burnsview Baptist Church and a member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fan of Southern Gospel Music and often referred to himself as Greer?s "old gospel man".

Patricia Ann Edwards Smith

April 14, 2020 - Patricia Ann Edwards Smith, 87, passed on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Ashlan Village
due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease.

Patricia was born September 13, 1932, in Greer, SC to Elmer Perry and Wylma Mason Edwards.

After graduating from Greer High School in 1950, she attended Furman University where she studied voice under the renowned DuPre Rhame. She finished Furman with a BA in Religion in 1954.

During high school, she sang in chorus and civic events and was a class beauty.

It was at Greer High that she met the love of her life, Joe Keller Smith. Joe and Patricia were married on October 7, 1954 and spent the next 57 years totally committed to one
another, always dedicated to each other's happiness.

Pat was a devoted wife, bringing Joe back to health from bouts with coronary disease and loving him through the slow agony of Parkinson's.

Patricia shared her beautiful soprano voice with the community as soloist with the First
Baptist Church choir, the Gap Creek Singers, and The Wood Mortuary.

She was active in numerous music-related organizations, including the Greer Music Club, where she followed her passion of developing local musicians for careers in music.

Patricia displayed grace and charm, and sought out those people who shared her style
and good taste in music, the arts, clothing and antique furnishings (always at a bargain
price).
