Brent enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to music and spending time with his "Sugarbear" (Alea) and nephew, Braylon Conwell.

Judith Louise Alexander Montgomery, 79, wife of Victor M. Montgomery, passed away peacefully in her sleep May 26, 2018 at Manning Place in Greer following a long illness. A native of Shelby, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Hoyle B. Alexander and Zelma Dixon Alexander. She was a graduate of Fallston High School, Fallston, NC and attended Gardner Webb University. She and her husband lived in larger cities in Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas and Pennsylvania before moving to Greer.
Her working years took her many places, beginning in Spartanburg, as secretary with H. J. Theiler Company, as Office and Credit manager with Professional Leasing in Knoxville, TN, as Office Manager for Gertrude Gardner Real Estate in New Orleans, then as Office Manager for Stewart Title in Houston, TX. After moving to Greer, she worked as Administrative Assistant to the Director of the South Carolina Governors School of the Arts and as Office Manager for C. Dan Joyner Real Estate in Mauldin.
After she retired, she enjoyed many years as a homemaker and volunteered with Greer Community Ministries and Meals on Wheels. She and her husband of 47 years enjoyed traveling to many countries and riding motorcycles with the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her son, grandchildren, and her large extended family. Judy was a wonderful hostess and cook who made her home a welcoming place for family and friends. Before her illness she was an active member of the Anglican Church.
She was a member of the Quota Club International in Knoxville, TN and a member of Beta Sigma Phi International in Greer.

John David Gillespie, 93, widower of Madaline Sutherland Gillespie, was called home to the Lord on May 19, 2018. He died peacefully at Greenville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gillespie was born on Nov. 7, 1924 in Greenville, SC, a son of the late John Gregg Gillespie and Cornelia Patton Gillespie, and Gertrude Miller Gillespie.
He was a devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend who enjoyed gospel music, golf, humor and traveling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served in World War II and the Korean War where he was the crew chief of then Lt. John Glenn.
Mr. Gillespie was a proud graduate of Furman University, earning a B.A. in History and a M.A. in Education. Education was a driving force in his life as he was a retired teacher of 30 years at Parker High School, where he taught Government and Economics. He was also the golf coach and was elected Senior Class Advisor for over 20 years.
His passion was found in serving as a church music leader, alongside of his late wife, in multiple Baptist churches including Slater, New Pisgah, Abner Creek, Grace, Pleasant Grove, Northwood, Friendship and Judson.
