Elizabeth C. Lib Lynn

March 27, 2017 - Elizabeth C. (Lib) Lynn of Greer died on Monday, 27 March in her 78th year of life.
Better known to her friends and family as Lib, she was born on 30 September 1938 in Andalusia, AL. Lib was the daughter of the late Clifford and Norma Carroll. At an early age her family moved to Raleigh, NC where she grew up, attended early education and graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1956.

After accepting an invitation for a date, a storybook romance ensued with her life's one and only true love, Vann Lynn. The lovebirds joined together in marriage in 1958 rocketing away on a lifetime of exploration and adventure.

They relocated to the South Carolina Upstate in 1962 where Lib spent time creating a loving home and being a wonderful wife and mother of two rambunctious boys. She was immensely proud of her sons and attended all of their school programs, PTA meetings, sporting events, awards ceremonies, Scouting activities and operated "Mom?s Taxi Service."

Lib worked a variety of jobs after her sons started school, but spent most of her career with the Greenville County School District working as a teacher's aide at Greer Middle School and later as school secretary at both Woodland and Sara Collins Elementary.

Many former students who attended Woodland and teachers who worked there in the 1960s and 1970s will remember her as the Halloween Witch who handed out treats to all the school?s children. Creating and refining her Wicked Witch?s costume year after year, she felt it was her mission to ensure each and every child received at least one treat of Halloween candy during the fall festivities. Lib also visited many other elementary schools throughout the area delivering treats.
Born with an amazing artistic talent, she was a champion crafter who excelled in a variety of disciplines including knitting, crochet, painting, sewing, basket weaving, stained glass, quilting and other creative endeavors. Lib?s hands were never idle and even when friends visited, she could carry on conversations while her hands continued knitting or crocheting her projects.

As a sister of mercy, when illness or sickness struck, her family and friends could always depend on Lib to drop by with a freshly made batch of home-made chicken soup to warm the soul and bring comfort. On birthdays, holidays, special occasions and celebrations, she was always ready with a handmade gift or sweet baked treat for the celebrants. She worked tirelessly to help bring joy to all those family and friends who knew her.

Her friends frequently commented that she was a joy to know and one of the nicest people imaginable. Consequently, her legacy leaves behind a large group of close personal friends.

She enjoyed testing and improving new recipes in her kitchen. An avid shopper, Lib had an incredible talent for finding and rooting out shopping bargains. She worked tirelessly decorating her home, cutting over two acres of grass weekly and improving the beauty of her yard. She loved a good scary movie and watching The Walking Dead was a weekly passion. She also participated in many outdoor activities and could usually outdo her children with a fishing rod and wiggling worm dangling from the hook.

She and Vann traveled extensively throughout the entire United States on many long distance adventures to national parks, historic venues, Las Vegas, most of the 50 states and to visit family. Florida?s Gulf Coast was a frequent destination.
Lib and Vann shared a truly magical lifelong bond. He was the pilot and she was the navigator who steered them both through a lifetime of travel, excitement, companionship and love. They were a true team and together they overcame many of the challenges life threw at them. Because of their shared commitment and hard work, they were also able to enjoy many of the pleasures a lifetime friendship provides and they celebrated their love for each other daily. During their retirement years, Vann provided her with breakfast in bed topped off with a rose on many mornings.

He loved her, she loved him and only death could separate them.
