A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Horace G. and Marie Williams Johnson, she was a retired employee of Startex Mill and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Born November 17, 1918 in Rock Hill, SC. She was the daughter of the late Claude Hunter and Louise Dendy Hunter.

Nell was married to the late Woodrow Britt and lived in Myrtle Beach for a number of years.

Nell was a member of The First Baptist Church of Lyman and was active in Sunday School and the WMU. After retirement she enjoyed traveling and visiting to many states as well as Canada.

Michael James Mooneyham

June 20, 2015 - Michael James Mooneyham, 56, died June 20, 2015 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.

A native of Mooresville, NC, son of the late Peyton Harrison Mooneyham, Jr. and Shirley Roberson Mooneyham.

A graduate of Mooresville Senior High, Mike attended Appalachian State University and graduated from Catawba Valley with a turf management degree.

He operated a landscaping business before moving into plumbing supply and sales. His career took him to Charlotte, Georgia and Maryland before settling in Greenville with ProSource Plumbing Supply.

He was of the Methodist faith. Mike was an avid golfer, enjoyed the outdoors and loved animals.

Sarah Gay Crain

June 19, 2015 - Sara Gay Crain, 95, wife of the late George A. Crain, and daughter of the late William H. and Zadie Barton Gay, passed away on June 19, 2015.

Sara was a member of Greer First Baptist Church and a founding member of the Greer Garden Club.

In 1966, Sara was selected GGC?s Woman of the Year. She was a charter member and past president of both the Greer Garden Club Council and the Azalea Garden Club.

Sara was also a past Advisory Board member of Allen Bennett Hospital.

Sara loved her friends, her Sunday School class, gardening, sewing Christmas ornaments, and playing bridge. A woman of classic elegance and refined grace, she was Miss Taylors in 1936.

In addition to her parents, Sara was predeceased by her brother Jim Gay (Jeannette) and her devoted son and only child, Bob Crain.

Louise Anderson Waters

June 18, 2015 - Louise Anderson Waters, 90, widow of B.B. Waters, Jr., died peacefully, surrounded by her four children at The Cottages at Brushy Creek on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

She was the daughter of the late Louis and Lillian Drummond Anderson of Laurens, SC.

She grew up in Laurens, attended Laurens County Schools and graduated from Laurens High School at sixteen as valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Limestone College at nineteen, again as valedictorian of her class and moved to Greer to teach High School English, Latin and French.

She married B.B. Waters, Jr. in December of 1947. Together they raised their children in the shadow of First Baptist Church of Greer.

She was the consummate homemaker and hostess, known for her hospitality. She was a true southern lady.

Mrs. Waters was heavily involved in her church and taught many different ages in Sunday School and Bible Study for more than fifty years.

Her greatest accomplishment in the church may have been her influence on the lives of young women. She also served two terms as a Trustee of the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board in the 1970's.

Louise delivered meals for Greer Community Ministries from the first day of service until she was no longer able to drive. She loved her Lord, her church and her friends with a passion that was demonstrated in her daily life.

She was predeceased by her brother, Drummond Anderson, and her sisters, Mary McAbee, Francis Taylor and Lillian White.

A native of Greenville County, daughter of the late Hayden W. Howell, Sr. and Dora Lou Bomar Howell Ford, she was a retired Branch Manager for Bank of Greer and a dedicated worker with Memorial United Methodist Church Child Enrichment Program.

She was a member of Greer First Baptist Church, where she taught 5 year old Sunday school class for 40 years, was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and WMU.

Mrs. Barbrey was a loving mother who devoted her life to her family and church.

Rev. Clyde Richard (Rick) Wofford

June 15, 2015 - Rev. Clyde Richard (Rick) Wofford of Lyman, SC passed away on June 15, 2015 at home of melanoma cancer.

Born in Spartanburg, SC on July 30, 1957 he was raised in Landrum, SC.

He was a son of the late Clyde Wofford and Grace Waters Wofford.

He was previously employed as an engineer at American Spinning (Greenville), Progress Lighting (Cowpens), and Raynor Garage Doors (Duncan). He enjoyed his time at each of these positions and made lifelong friends.

Rick was a proud graduate of Landrum High School (1975), Clemson University (1979) and Southern Wesleyan University (2003).

June 3, 2015 - Gwen Howard Nodine, 89, formerly of 214 James Road, Greer, died June 3, 2015 at The Cottages at Brushy Creek in Greer.

A native of Greenville County and the daughter of the late Myrtle Lister, she was a retired employee of Michelin in Spartanburg. She also worked at J.P. Stevens, Greer Plant for 33 years.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She had done volunteer work at Allen Bennett Hospital and Greer Community Ministries.

Gwen was a resident at The Cottages at Brushy Creek in Greer for the past 6 ½ years.

The family wishes to thank the staff for their wonderful and compassionate care of Gwen and her family during her stay.

Mrs. Nodine was predeceased by her first husband, Verner T. Howard, two brothers, Marshall Lister and Palmer Lister, step-son, Jackson C. Howard, and second husband, Raymond Carlos Nodine.

A native of Greenville County, he was a son of Timothy Andrew and Patricia Goodnough Miller, and a 1994 graduate of Wade Hampton High School.

He had a variety of skills working as an electrician and in the food industry.

Andy accepted Jesus Christ as Lord, and Faith Home in Greenwood was special to him.

He made friends easily and was a joy to people he met while battling his addiction. He was working on his recovery at a halfway house when he passed away.
