CSX work closes Main Street until weekend

Plan for a few extra minutes to travel and maneuver around Greer beginning Thursday morning.
CSX is closing the railroad crossing at the South Main Street/S. Hwy. 14 bridge at Pennsylvania Avenue. Detour signs will be posted this evening directing northbound and southbound traffic around the street closings.
Chamber honors distinguished Greer leaders

The 78th Annual Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce Awards celebrates members of the Chamber that have made an impact on Greer’s business community, and signifies the annual change of leadership of the chamber’s executive board.
Tony Kouskolekas, the President of Pelham Medical Center, is the 2016 board chair, taking over for from past chairman Mark King.
Super day for pizza, chicken wing sales

There will be more than 4 million pizzas sold Super Bowl weekend, nearly doubling orders on a typical football Sunday. Greer pizzerias are planning to get a big piece of that pie.
Merrell’s Pizza and Wild Ace Pizza and Pub are extending their hours until the end of Sunday’s Super Bowl Game between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
GSP concessions continue to evolve, add vendors

R.J. Rockers Flight Room and Thomas Creek Grill, operating at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, have a new concessions management company, Outstanding Hospitality Management.
“Over the next twelve months we will be working with OHM on several exciting projects to enhance the customer experience,” GSP Airport District President/CEO Dave Edwards said.
GreerMade initiative promotes locally manufactured products

Products made in Greer can now be certified as GreerMade in an initiative presented by the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce at its annual celebration Thursday night. The chamber is marketing the logo as one word.
Mark Owens, President/CEO of the Chamber, said the program is to promote and market the diversity of products made in Greer. “We’re doing a certification of origin, a registered trademark that shows the product comes from Greer,” Owens said.
