Shoppers welcomed to Shop Small Saturday in Greer

Shop Small Saturday, now in its sixth year, promotes customers supporting independently and locally owned businesses.
The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce and Greer Station Association merchants have been preparing for this weekend with promotions. The Chamber is inviting shoppers to post a selfie photograph at #ShopSmallSelfie to earn a randomly selected post to win a $50 gift card.
Bruster's moves building to S. Buncombe Road

Bruster’s Ice Cream building has been moved to its new location at 504 S. Buncombe Road.
The move to the 1.65 acre site was as simple as moving the entire building from 6040 Wade Hampton Boulevard to its new location on the vacant property.
Chef Clark demonstrates turkey carving step-by-step

Jason Clark, honored as the Restaurateur of 2014 in the Upstate, demonstrates how to carve a turkey and present a beautiful plate of food for the family and guests on Thanksgiving.
Chef Clark is owner of BIN112 and the Strip Club 104 A Steak House in Greer.

Jimmy Chulkus laughed out loud while leaning back in a booth at the Clock Restaurant on Poinsett Street.
“Two hot dogs, French fries and a tea! A big ice tea! To go!”
Chulkus was in mid-sentence talking about Lonnie “Gee” McGee when he paused, busted out laughing again and repeated the phrase.
That was Gee’s standard order when he came for dinner at Clock Restaurant.

Lonnie "Gee" McGee, a Greer icon with his presence at virtually every significant event and man about town, is leaving Greer this week for Clinton.
Gee, as he is affectionately known to generations of greater Greer citizens of all professions, is moving to a care center in Clinton, according to a Greer Police Department release.
Pizza Hut makeover makes for a happy anniversary

The Pizza Hut at 306 Wade Hampton Blvd. is one year removed from a complete remodeling and the move has ushered in more customers and better profits for the restaurant.
General Manager Russell Kowalczyk said a new prototype, better atmosphere and expanded lunch buffet helped generate a bigger customer base.

Abbott's opening still several weeks away

It appears Abbott’s Frozen Custard will be open in December.
Jason Cole, general manager was handing out candy in an Abbott’s covered cup last Thursday during Halloween on Trade. “We still have a few things to do but it’s coming along,” Cole said. “We hope to be open next month in time for the holidays.”
