Rhythm & Brews is teaming up with local chef Daniel Dobbs to bring smoked BBQ to historic downtown Greer. Owner Brad Blevins, in celebration of Rhythm & Brews’ 3rd anniversary, wanted to expand its menu to add one more dinner option.
Daniel Dobbs studied culinary arts at Johnson and Wales and has worked at restaurants throughout the Upstate. He was a chef at Ember until it closed unexpectedly in May and previously worked at Great Bay Oyster House on Poinsett Street.
Learn which wines you prefer and why you like them with a new course offered at Greenville Tech. "The World of Wine for Consumers and Hospitality Professionals" will be taught by Richard Peck, wine and beverage director for Table 301 Restaurants in Greenville.
Offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 13 through Nov. 8, at Greenville Tech’s Buck Mickel Center, the class costs $159 per person plus a $75 materials fee, which covers three wine tastings at area restaurants.
Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, N.C., is worth the hour drive from Greer. All its beer is certified organic, and the brewery has a great tour of the organic brewery that explains the process and what steps a brewery has to take to make organic beer.
Brent Ludwig, one of five employees of the brewery, led the tour we took this past Saturday. We got a beer from the tasting room (I got the Blueberry Wheat), and followed Brent through the building that used to house a federally subsidized company that made school desks.
