Timmons wins Fudd's Choice award for best new burger

Brian Timmons (right) won the Fudd's Choice award for his winning sandwich of sriracha pimento cheese and bacon burger. Corporate Chef Dan Phalen presents Timmons the award.
 

Brian Timmons gets a special salute from GreerToday.com and HereInGreer for winning a nationwide Fuddruckers contest – Fudd’s Choice.

Timmons, director of catering for Fuddruckers Upstate, submitted a burger to be selected as a new menu item. Timmons submitted his recipe, the sriracha pimento cheese and bacon burger, and was selected as the top winner.

Fatz names Directory of Culinary, to be based in Taylors headquarters

Brian Dukes has been named the Director of Culinary for Fatz Southern Kitchen.
 

Former Columbia Blue Marlin Chef Brian Dukes has been named the Director of Culinary for Fatz Southern Kitchen.

Dukes will be based in the chain’s Taylors headquarters and direct culinary operations in its 45 locations across the Southeast. Dukes, from Knoxville, Tenn., graduated Johnson and Wales University and holds strong family ties to South Carolina. His career has taken him to the San Juan Islands, Virginia, the Pacific Northwest and New York City, where he worked in the kitchen of Alain Ducasse.

Eclipse: Think snow, that's how emergency planners view historic event
AUG 4, 2017

Starting at 2:39 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21 viewers in the Upstate will experience the longest period of 100 percent total eclipse  ranging from two minutes and 30 seconds to two minutes and 36 seconds of total darkness.
 

Think a snow event and that is how the South Carolina Emergency Management Department (SCEMD) is planning for the eclipse as it crosses the Upstate and South Carolina.

Grocery stores, gas stations, hotels, restaurants, transportation services, coffee shops, retail stores, urgent care clinics and many other establishments will experience a jump in business, according to the SCEMD.
